The History of IRGO
The idea of IRGO started as a discussion between Petra Forsström, at that time Head of CSR at Svenska Spel, Richard Wood, Mark Griffiths, Thomas Nilsson and, early 2007. "how could we put research in practise?"
IRGO, was launched through a seminar in Stockholm in 2007, with 120 delegate from 22 countries, based on the starting point how to put Gaming Responsible Research into practice.
With the ambition to build an organization with the most renowned researches and highly experienced representatives from the gaming industry we started our work. With AB Svenska Spel as a sponsor and, and a couple of other, gaming companies and a Gaming Board as initial members, we started our work.
After a rather short time we realized that the demand from the gaming industry in combination with the necessity to in a more structured way form an organization and package the products and services from IRGO, was needed. We made a consolidation break.
We have, since February, been working to establish a strategy and an organization that in every respect will meet the requirements from gaming companies within WLA and EL who realize the necessity to improve their performance with additional preventive responsible gaming measures. IRGO, as a renewed project, is now ready to take it´s more official step into the regulated gaming market. This will happen in oktober 2009.
